GMH CH Foxgrove’s Raisin’ Cain
QFTR Am MH US/Cdn WCX CD
Nov. 2002 to June 2015
Raisin shone as my hunting companion. She had excellent tracking and marking abilities and would not quit on a bird. She was calm in the blind, often sleeping with her head on my lap while waiting for the birds to come in.
Raisin was a very talented competitor earning both her AKC and CKC MH titles by the time she was 2 1⁄2. In 2008 she became the second Toller to earn the Grand Master Hunter title. In the Field Trial venue her Qualifying Field Trial Retriever (QFTR) title was earned by placing in 3 straight trials to earn the 10 points necessary to add this title to her name and became the only Toller with a Field Trial title to their credit. In the obedience ring her CD came in 3 straight trials with 195 to 198.5 scores to her credit. In the show ring she finished in 2 weekends with a 5 point Booster win as a puppy.
In the whelping box Raisin produced 4 litters that are showing a lot of her talent. Six have graduated from the Canada Customs drug detection program. Other offspring are excelling in field, obedience, agility and conformation venues.
Raisin died suddenly on June 27/15. She was running and swimming at 8:30 and collapsed with a tumour on her spleen at 11:30. Words cannot express what this little red dog meant to me. She taught me so much. She lived life to the fullest right to the very end. She had a zest for life, a love of any game. We hunted ducks, pheasants and geese over her. She traced a deer in a snow storm and without her it would never have been found. She was my partner, my friend and a great ambassador for the breed. She has left a huge hole in my heart.
