Tollers make very nice hunting dogs. Our dogs have been used to hunt ducks and geese and also to track deer, bear and moose. They are also fabulous upland dogs and love a good pheasant hunt.
They do well in the marsh on ducks and geese. In the corn fields they will figure out how to bring in the big birds but if you expect your dog to pick up dozens of geese a day this may not be the breed for you. Their size does hamper them on repeated long retrieves but for the average hunter they will do the job nicely.
Foxgrove Tollers have also done very well in the Hunt Test game. Three of the five CKC Grand Master Hunters are Foxgrove Tollers and a fourth is owned/trained by Foxgrove. Many others have Master Hunter, Senior Hunter and other hunt test titles in the US and Canada.
